So I have recently rescued 2 battery hens and a mallard duck. At the moment they are in separate pens while we look after all their health issues. I had read that ducks are fine to be in a free-range chicken flock ... after more investigation I have also read that the males might try to mate with my chickens He is a big duck! Should I try to find him some females? Or find another home for him?

Separate the ducks and chickens and get more hen duckies

@Kimminykricket37, how much does he weigh? A mature mallard will weigh about 3-4 pounds I think, but a Rouen will weigh 6-8 pounds. Can he fly? Mallards a excellent fliers, Rouens don't fly.

Yes I think he must be a Rouen. Doesn’t fly and would be around 6 pounds.
