UK Member Please Say HI

hello @Esc_Quaily :frow There's another newby in BYC who's not far from you, in Orkney; let me introduce you to @kattabelly
Fantastic. Thank you @Perris for your introduction. Hello @kattabelly. I'm a new quail keeper called Juel. Orkney is on my must visit pronto list. I enjoy a wee tipple of Highland Park amongst other Orkney related things. Welcome to this friendly community :highfive:

Hello fellow UK based BYCers. I'm new to the group. My family and our very new quail covey live in the north east of Scotland, just outside Nairn. Thanks for creating this post 👋
Hi there, I have kept quail for two years (near Paisley) super wee birds and great producers of eggs.

Hi @Ali T . Do you keep them inside or outdoors? I'm going to start following you if you don't mind? I used to live near Fergie Park when I was a student the first time. I've some wild stories about my time in Paisley ❤️

Hi I am retired now and keep quail as a hobby and also hens ( a silkie a brahma and two mixed breeds) I have also hatched out two ducks which are 3 weeks old. I have never found quail to go "broody" so have hatched their eggs out using my silkie bantam (would say though it is best to transfer them into a brooder set up after hatching) I have found this to work well if you intend to breed from them . Nairn is a lovely area, I used to live in Wick (just a couple of years).👩‍🌾

@Ali T , much of my family are from Wick, proper farmers up there 👨‍🌾. Me, I pretent my postage stamp of a garden is my mini farm!! Hence, my fancy for quail. Much less chance of upsetting the neighbours with quail than chooks. I'm not sure my heart could take breeding quail. They are so tiny. My plan for the quail is for them to eat weeds and insects in my greenhouse. A working pet if you like. Congratulations on your ducklings hatching.
