Only just joined BYC. Because of the lockdown an d so 8 am at home constantly, we thought we’d put our forever brooded hens to use and needed some advise . So I’m looking forward to the forums Horsham West Sussex

Sulmtalers .. keep going broody and so not very good Layers so put one of them to use and just hatched three light sussex. So I shall have 4 non laying hens and 3 cockerels probably!!!

I recently got 2 x Light Sussex, 1 x Black Maran, and 1 x Blacktail . They are still young and I am still a complete novice at chicken keeping ; )
Am really enjoying them, they have so much personality and are full time entertainment! lol

I have a selection, 1 Speckled Sussex (our lone hatchling) and his/her friends who I may have gone over board on! 2 Silkie x Pekin, 1 Silkie, 1 Wheaten Maran, 2 Pekin, 2 Apenzellers, 1 Brahma and 1 Buff Orpington. All between 3days and 3 weeks at the moment.

Oh and a pheasant who believes he is a cat... don't ask (she's the reasons we got chickens).

There great fun and easy to keep. I’ve just hatched chicks for the first time of keeping chickens for 10 years . So that’s a learning curve. Think the chicks are all cockerels, but hay ho.
