some great news today; the near-decade-long farce of perennial 'emergency' authorisations to use banned neonics is over.

More good news. DEFRA have launched a consultation on changing the rules to allow poultry to eat insect PAP (processed animal protein), porcine PAP, and ruminant collagen and gelatine, which is open for responses till 1 April 2025 (and no, this is not an early April Fool joke).

They have finally recognised that the 1988 'precautionary' response to BSE, to wit, a complete ban on any animal protein in any animal feed, was OTT (it only ever included dried mealworms as an unintended consequence of the poor definition of PAP employed in the legislation).
