Hi all. Came across this site when looking into getting chcikens. Bought three last week (2 ex battery and 1 road rock). Bit if pecking for a couple of days but all sorted. The two ex battery's seemed to stick together so thought id buy a friend for the other. Bought a Warwickshire bluebell on Saturday. Decided to separate new one for a few days but can see each other through tge wire. However today we decided to introduce the new one with the calmest of all. In the process has nicked the top of her comb. Have a tried everything but can't stop the bleeding. Its stops for a short time but she shakes her head and start s again. They have all headed to bed and hoping it will clot during the night as no knocking it on anything! Fingers crossed she will be ok. So......as long as she is ok in the morning, I am loving having them. So much fun and so funny! Look forward to lots of posts on here!

Hi and welcome from Lancashire, NW England. If you find the other hens pecking at the bleeding comb there is a purple preparation you can get from Happy Chicks in Lancashire (they post and deliver). Evidently hens cannot see purple and so they stop pecking at blood. Sarah who runs the place is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Good luck !
