Anyone from Kent? Only got 4, 3 brown hybrids (Hetty, Wilma, Lulu) and a light sussex (Poppy). They have a house which is big enough for 10 and a perimeter fence giving them about 50 sq metres. There are two bushes, a dog cage, ladder, tree stumps, mirror and hubby about to build a swing. Had them for 2.5 years, originally 7 but Thelma got eggbound, fox got Babs and Doris laid down and died following stressful encounter with dog. Only getting 3 eggs a day. Poppy has always been bottom of the heap but has now been badly bloodied so is in the utility recuperating. Would love more but realise will need to wait til these 4 have shuffled off. Hope there's someone local.

Hi and welcome to BYC from another Tyke in Kenya - glad that you have joined us.

I hope you manage to help Poppy out and see if you can find the aggressor - then put that one in solitary for a while.

All the best

Maybe Poppy would be a good candidate for "house chickenhood," she probably would flourish away from the meanies. There is a good thread on here called "people with house chickens." My friend has 3 hens in her home 2 seramas and 1 silkie. She has had house chickens for over 25 years - various breeds and she loves it. Hope it all works out for you. Sometimes meanies are just destined to the soup pot.
