I believe some of my birds have enteritis.I haven't been able to see any of the intestinal lesions but they have all of the physical symptoms. No meat on there breast, droopy wings, listlessness, ruffled feathers, etc.I'm using Solu-tracin now at 1 half tsp per gallon but I'm looking for streptomycin or trying to find another name for it I can find.I heard Streptomycin was the very best thing for it but if anybody has anymore advice I'd love to hear it and if you know where I can get Streptomycin, please let me know.Thank you

Ulcerative Enteritis is easy to spot in the color of a quails poop. It will be an ashy grey color. If your quail do in fact have UE, they will not live long. So if you have had this issue for over a week and nobody has died, then the quail have something else. Usually with UE, quail die within 3 or 4 days. It kills quick.

Duramycin is an excellent enteritis antibiotic. Terramycin or even Agrimycin will work. Most feed stores carry all or one of these antibiotics.

But it does sound like they need antibiotics and quick like. Duramycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic and will take care of most issues you you described above. It is quick acting and you should see results within 3 days. Use it for 7-14 days.

I have had several dying and several are still sick but there poop is more like a runny rusty look and what poop that I see that has dried might look like the ashy color you described. One other thing, how much Duramycin do I put in the water?

For Duramycin, it is 1/2 teaspoon per quart of water or 2 teaspoons per gallon of water. You want to make a new batch each day. Offer this mix up for 7 -14 days depending on the severity of the illness. It you are seeing improvement after one week, I would continue on for 14 full days.

Have they been wormed recently? Quail need to be wormed at least once a year, if not twice, depending on your conditions. These symptoms you describe can also be caused from an over load of worms.
