I am going to design a coop with a breeze across the roosts that are situated below the nesting boxes...with no bedding in the coop...no auto door...one nesting box for 24....

what else can you recommend that would be obviously against conventional wisdom? i want to try all of it!...and i bet it will still work!

How about no hardware cloth, no latches on the doors, or other predator-proofing? That's unconventional.

I'd say to make it so short that an adult hen of a larger breed can't even stand up and pack it to the density of a shipping crate but that's normal for pre-fab coops.

Why not just stuff them all in a cardboard box. Fill access space with packing peanuts and toss them in the backyard overnights?
