um IM a city boy help

IM currently in the city going to move in summer to a small farm im not really a city boy i hunt fish and love farms so that means im new to chickens what breed is best for 7 degree nights (with out a heat lamp and that crud) and good egg laying and of course i just want eggs not meat(yet:)....) and freindly not looking for a roster just all round good hen:P

are a lot of breeds that do well in the cold. A smaller comb helps as it is less subject to frostbite. The link above gives a lot of breed characteristics, including egg production and cold tolerance as well as personality. Of course the individuals will vary, but still....

You might also lood at winter egg production. Many breeds slow down or even stop laying in winter. My orps laid all year but have large combs. I'll let you sort it out.
