umbilical cord looks weird-help!

When my gosling finished hatching and he kicked his shell off, he umbilical cord looked weird. It has a little blood, and it hasnt dried up, and he's been out for a couple hours. It looks a little weird towards the base of where it is. It is starting to make me wonder...

Is it possible the stomach is slightly peaking out?!!


Or not?

Is there anything I should do so it doesnt bleed?

sounds like you're humidity might have been a bit off..you can take a qtip and some betadine and swab it..that's what i do in cases like that.. if they aren't really bad anyway.

In cases where there's bleeding I dab cornstarch on it to stop the bleeding.

If the chick has yolk still out I would keep it moist and make a little barrier so that other chicks hatching will not disturb it and that goes for bleeders as well.
