Umbilical hernia?

I had a peachick hatch about 24 hours ago. Just took it out of the Hatcher and it looks like it has an umbilical hernia. It’s somewhat hard or dried out. Is there anything that I should do for this peachick? I was thinking maybe I should keep it separate from the other chicks so they don’t pick it.

I have seen that a lot in the last couple of years. I do not know exactly why it is but it seems like the cord is not drying out and breaking off as it should. The more the chick struggles the worse it pulls the internals out of the body. We apply triple ointment to the area and wait for it to heal reapplying every day for the first few days. If it also develops pasty butt give it a drop of Baytril for a couple of days to help fight off infection. I have not noticed other chicks pecking at the hernia.

Ok. Thank you. So you think it will be fine to be with it’s hatch mates? I will apply triple antibiotic ointment. How much baytril is a drop and how is it given? Thanks again
