Umbilical site on chick- possible injury?

Our first ever day old chicks arrived and are settling in nicely, however, I mistook one having stool stuck to her down for what I believe was her umbilical site. It began to bleed a little, and I’d just like some reassurance/little advice if I should be more concerned with this. Seems to be moving, eating and drinking fine. Just a little red and irritated where the area became exposed.

She’s 2-3 days old, Rhode Island Red chick. I’ve applied some natural calendula-beeswax healing ointment to the site where it bled a little. Area has been wiped clean and ointment reapplied during the day.

Not much you can do beyond what you have done. It should heal up in time. There is a risk of infection so make sure it’s clean and her environment is clean. And make sure she or her siblings don’t peck at it.
