Ummm...did they over do it on the cabbage?

I'm new to chickens this year (two just started laying in the last weekish, yay!) and decided to try hanging up a head of purple cabbage as a treat/toy/keep 'm busy thing today. Just came home to the three of them having eaten the WHOLE head and there is very dark green/blueish poop all over the place. The cabbage was small, about the size of a soft ball, but oh my goodness, they clearly have an awful lot of it in their systems!
Is this just a funny fluke, or something that can honestly hurt them?

My girls will demolish a cabbage in short order. No problems here, so far.
