Have you treated them for Coccidiosis? This sounds like it might be the problem. Coccidiosis is a parasitic infection of the intestinal tract and is the leading cause of death among chicks, but is easily controlled using a coccidiostat such as Corid(amprolium).

Some symptoms are:runny/watery poop (may or may not contain blood, depends on which strain it is)fluffed feathers, lethargic, not eating/drinking.

Purchase Corid(amprolium)dose for Corid 9.6% liquid is 2 tsp per gallon of water, dose for Corid 20% powder is 1-1.5 tsp per gallon of water. Treat ALL birds for 5 days,do not give vitamins during treatment as they can interfere with the ability of coccidiostat to work, give vitamins after treatment is complete. Make sure medicated water is the only source of drinking water.

In the event of a very ill bird, you can give a straight dose of amprolium, but only a small drop to a chick this may help get amprolium into system faster, you can also add medicated water to feed(if using non-medicated feed) for a couple of days. If you are using medicated feed already,DO NOT add any extra medicated water to feed.

For cleaning brooder/feed/water bowls, clean using diluted cleaning ammonia as bleach will not kill coccidiosis oocysts.

Are you providing plenty of grit? Without grit they can not digest food, and you have to find either chick grit, or parakeet/canary grit as the babies can't swallow regular poultry grit. Don't give up, chickens are wonderful pets!

What are you feeding them? Do you provide them with heat, and if so, what do you keep the temperature at? I would suspect some sort of nutritional problem, or Coccidiosis.

Are they dyed chicks like in your avatar? Dyed chicks don't always live to be adults; my mother's parents would buy them and the dyed chicks always died within weeks.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for your replies! yes i raise dyed chicks the one in my avatar died couple of weeks ago :( now i have 3 dyed chicks. its summer here 30C to 32C during daytime and 20C-22C at night so i thought heat lamp should not be used? I give them millet and boiled rice they eat normal for first few weeks and then they become lethargic and stop eating and drinking much and eventually die :( Corid is not available in my country any home remedies? Thanks again!
