In the Brooder
I woke up this morning to a very sad sight. Our 5 month olf buff orpington (Sunny Side) was laying dead in our sealed coop. There was a ton of blood (not splatters) on the wall - basically dripping down from the top roost where she normally sleeps as well as blood on the shavings. We looked at the body and saw no injuries at all. We also have never had a problem with pecking. She was healthy and fine as of yesterday around 7 pm although maybe a little more tired than usual. All of our other 5 chickens are fine. Sunny Side did start laying eggs last week. One of the eggs had small blood spots on it, but since then, she has laid two eggs with no problem. She just laid yesterday morning. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what might have happened. It almost looked like something ruptured.
