Uncle Bill C. Now retired on an 8 acre retired block in NZ. I have 7 hens; Wyandottes and Brown Shavers. The shavers are Rescue battery hens. All are about 3 years old. Had a few more but one got taken by a hawk and another just dropped dead the other day. They are free range and put themselves to bed at night at which time they are locked in to protect from predators. My family are grown and spread around the world, so there is only my wife and I home. She is involved in dressage with horses and is also a judge for it. I will stick to my sea fishing. Found this site through information hunting online and found some good info.

Hello Bill :)

It's so fulfilling have rescues I treasure mine.

Hawks are a worry I'm trying to find ways too keep them away I have a fake owl and aim to add a few shiny objects and flags which I have been told help a little.
