Is there anyone out there that is good at understanding legal documents that can tell me if and where our codes say we cannot have chickens?

After getting our chicks I have heard from several sources that we cannot have them including a neighbor that went to the city and county about it a few years ago for himself. I did my homework and read all codes, and I don't see anywhere it says we can't.

Here is a link to the city codes:

Here is a link to the County codes:

and lastly here is a link to the county zoning codes (We are in an SR 2 area)

I appreciate the input if anyone has the time to look.

I didn't see anything against chickens (poultry) but interpretation is 9/10 of the law...

We have a lot of code here that is completely upended, or mindbogglingly upheld by a single word or sentence in a tome of code, by an inspector. And the next inspector will tell you something completely different.

Point being: just go down to your planning and zoning department and talk to a real person that lives and breathes the codes that are in question. If you're worried about exposure, give them an address that's still your zoning, but far enough away for comfort. Yes, they might be donkeys, but at least you'll know what to do and have a name when someone tries to tell you different.

Good luck!
