Is it ok/beneficial to feed uncooked steel cut and rolled oats to my chicken flock?

    Welcome to BYC..
I can't see why it would hurt. I feed mine oats and they seem happy. I never cook anything for them, except when I feed them eggs.

You can feed them raw or cooked. I just wouldn't give them too many at one time as they are only around 10-14 percent protein and they can dilute your overall daily protein. Minimum daily requirements are 16%. Feeding a higher protein ration than that 16% amount can allow you to add extras without causing deficiencies.

My baby chicks will even snap up race horse oats, like they were beluga caviar. By 7 days of age the little Hellions are even eating whole grain or shelled flint corn. That's Arginine flint corn, not Flint, Michigan corn.

    Sure as a treat.
Limiting treats, of any kind, is a good idea.
