Under deck chicken run

A walk-in structure is best if at all possible. At this time of year, garden sheds might be discounted at the big box stores, and they do work well, with added ventilation and hardware cloth covered window openings. You will want larger than you think!!!
At least four sq. ft. of floor space for each bird, and more is better.

Can I ask your opinion on the Keter plastic shed in my comment above? I really do struggle with construction, so these resin Lego type sheds are all I can handle. I can add more ventilation near the roof? It's also $300 less than what I paid for the smaller coop in the previous comment (I ordered it to ship to tractor supply company but it hasn't arrived yet... I'm thinking they'll let me return it once it arrives if I explain my inexpertise in chicken keeping...)

I thought about putting our coop just a few feet away from our house/deck but ultimately changed my mind when I did some research and realized that coops can attract mice/rats/flies and other vermin. I can't tell from your picture if the deck is around a pool or your house. If it's your house, you might want to reconsider building a run under there....?

The deck is around my pool, downhill from the house by about 30'. I am also terrified of getting mice and rats!
