Sahara was oblivious to the pair of fiery orange eyes watching her as she slunk into the woods, as low as her profile would allow.
"Sahara?" Logjam whispered, stilling as her scent grew stronger.
"Yes, it's me," Sahara replied, emerging from the woods.
Hades silently stalked after her, his orange eyes narrowed to slits. As they got closer and closer to the Mountainpack border, he became increasingly suspicious that Sahara was seeing a Mountainpack male. And then, when Logjam emerged, his suspicions were confirmed. He bared his teeth silently.
"Did anybody follow you?" Logjam whispered, nuzzling her side softly.
"No," Sahara confirmed, giving his ear an affectionate lick. "Please, stop being so paranoid. Nobody ever followed me, and nobody ever will."
"How wrong she is," Echo hissed, drawing to a stop beside Hades, blue eyes blazing. She had noticed her mate following the she-wolf, and had trailed behind to see why. "How wrong..."
"She's a disgrace to Tundrapack and everything it stands for," Hades hissed back in agreement. His ears were pinned back flat against his head, and his hackles were bristling. He emerged from the shadows, and stepped into Sahara and Logjam's view. "Sahara." His voice was rumbling in his attempt to contain his fury. "Why are you not chasing off the intruder?" But the knowing look he gave her showed her that he knew more than he was letting on...
( Have Senkah come in!BLOOD! DEATH! WAR!!!
I am a sick and twisted human. I am truly sorry. )
Sahara whirled around, shock plastered to her face like a tight mask. "Hades... uh..."
"You told me you weren't followed!!!" Logjam hissed, bristling at the sight of Hades. This was Sahara's pack's alpha male, it seemed... This was going to be bad.
"She was," Echo said cooly, emerging into view. Eyes narrowed into slits of vibrant blue fire, she added, "I don't think your alpha would approve of this... Mountainmutt."
Hades snapped his jaws together, creating a hollow echo. "You little traitor," he spat at Sahara. "I'll deal with you later." His fiery gaze landed back to Logjam, and with a roar, he lunged for him with lightning speed. "Get off our land!"
"NO!" Sahara screeched, sprinting towards Hades in attempt of blocking him as he lunged. "NO!"
She was too late. Logjam was bowled over by the brute force of the large brown he-wolf. The breath was knocked out of him in one unnatural sounding gasp. Sucking air into his lungs as fast as he possibly could, he scrambled up to face Hades. "You leave her alone!"
"Afraid we can't do that, junior," Echo spat, her blue eyes set on Sahara. She needed to kill this she-wolf, and fast. There were to be no traitors in her pack.
"Don't give me orders, especially on MY territory, pup!" Hades roared as he snapped his jaws at Logjam's face with bone-crushing power. "I SAID GET OFF MY LAND!" He turned his head to look at Echo. "Echo, can you handle Sahara? I'm gonna gut this Mountainmutt like a fish."
Logjam squealed like a newborn pup as Hade's jaws collided with his nose. Pulling away, the spark of defiance in his eyes still danced. "And I said, LEAVE HER ALONE!"
Echo's expression remained as if it had been cut from stone. "Yes, Hades," she said, turning back to Sahara. "You little traitor. I should kill you right here and now!"
"NO!" Logjam roared, and with the force of a freight train, sprinted towards his mate. "LEAVE HER ALONE!"
"Did you hear that?" Starling asked Faedon, freezing mid-chase. The caribou would get away, but curiosity pulled him towards the noise. "Maybe we should check it out..."
As quick as a bullet, Hades jabbed out his foreleg in an attempt to trip Logjam as he went by. "My opponent is you, scum!" he roared. He shot daggers with his eyes at Sahara. "Are you so weak that your mate has to defend you? Pah! Tundrapack doesn't need you anyway, you worthless mouse. Get back to the densite!"
Faedon skidded to a stop. Her ears swiveled about like a radar dish (sorry that really cracks me up), and a second later, she grit her teeth together. "Sounds like a fight near the border. Definitely; let's go." She turned tail and began to sprint away, towards the border.![]()
