Underground Tunnel to Connect Coop & Run

Needed to maintain the walkway from front to back yard, so I dug a 10’ tunnel to connect the coop area & a 20’ x 15’ run area. 16” wide by 16” tall. Used deck boards and galvanized fencing for the top with spaces for light & air. One hatch was inspired by “Lost” & the other is a toilet seat (new).

Two unexpected benefits. The girls like hanging out in the tunnel… especially when its windy. The second is that the platform over the run is great for feeding treats and delivering announcements and inspirational speeches.

Thanks. It was also convenient for getting them out of the way when I was adding-on to the original coop. Just toss a treat in and shut the hatch behind them.

Definitely like that when one ducks down there with a grape in her beak… the rest in hot pursuit!
