Chicken Genetics and I are like butter and bread. I am new to Pheasant and actually don't have any, but may in the future for genetics purposes(behavioral, reproduction and production), I saw a youtube video of someone crossing a what it looks like a Ringneck or perhaps Common Pheasant rooster with game type Hens, my cunning eyes immediately spot definite signs of a sex linkage cross. The male Pheasant looks to be gold and with dark shanks, the chicken he is Silver Duckwing with clear shanks.
Male Pheasant= i+/id+, W+/W+, s+/s+
Female Silver Duckwing= Id/-, w/w, S/-
The F1 cross are:
F1 males= Id/id+, W+/w, S/s+
F1 Female(single one) = id+/-, W+/w, s+/-
very interesting that birds that diverged about 20 Millions years ago are still capable of Viable Hybrids and share many of their sex linkage genes.
