I have searched the internet from one side to another and am sure that this is the only place to find out my breeding questions. We have a small flock at home and enjoy hatching different types of eggs, but nothing is more fun than having one from our yard hatch and trying to figure out who the egg's daddy is. We have a silkie rooster and a barred rooster that are free rangers with out hens. My questions are based on mixing breeds and what the results are. When I read about sex link chicks, is the basis of how sex links are created the same for other mixes, such as if the father is a silkie, and the fathers traits are passed onto the offspring ( female) would you be able to determine that the chick is a female vs. male based on distinguishing traits???? Also with determining sex of chicks that are 1-3 days old, is this specific to only certain breeds or can you use it as a general and safe way to determine sex in all baby chicks?
