I would use this time to explain to the kids about life and death of animals.
I'm not quite sure which words to use but...Google might have some good choices.

See how she is doing come tomorrow morning.

If her body and wings start to spread out, she stops eating, and starts sleeping a lot, and/or has very labored breathing, then, it would be best to end her suffering. She may be close to death, at that point. :hugs
 
Well, in a last ditch effort, I offered her up to anyone in my local chicken fb group that would be willing to take and care for her. She’s still alert, eating and drinking a little, this morning. So yeah, it’s hard to put her down, but we just can’t give her what she needs right now. So we’ll see.

I agree to disagree but I don't like this idea...spreading disease is not good.

:rolleyes: What if you are dealing with Marek's disease and this new person isn't familiar with the disease and how EASILY it is spread and they take the bird which infects there flock and they end up with dead birds?

I am really against the idea of passing a sick bird on. I think it is your responsibility to either nurse her or end her suffering.

That was sweet. Sweet Ella will be fine...you don't worry about her too much. Kids are tougher than we think.

For the love of money...please order chicks from Ideal next time.
They arrive within 12 hours of hatching.
