Unexpected chicken dad..

:welcome Glad to have you, is this your first batch? I was so excited when I brought my first chickens home.. I was checking on them I think every 20 mins.

Yes this is my first batch - I never thought I ever would own chickens. We have been checking and playing with them nonstop lol

Congrats and welcome!!!

Being a new dad can be exciting and scary at the same time.. words of wisdom to remember-

Chicks take tons of naps (as you know) they are not dead and hate being poked!

Your first dust bath will lead you to think that they are having a seizure- but they are not.. I promise, it is there way of keeping clean.

Chicken stroke? Nope- that is how they sunbathe!

Tumor? Not a chance- that is their crop (a holding place for food waiting for digestion)

Enjoy! and take lots of pics and videos- they grow up fast!

That article on chickens freaking you out has me cracking up, I've watched mine dust bathe several times, and still keep expecting them to flip on their backs and wiggle like a dog will..lol, the favorite is when 4 or 5 of them will try and get in the same spot..
