Unexpected dead chicken
I found one of my five hens laying on the floor dead today.

I saw no bite marks peck marks or any other marks of any kind. I looked pretty carefully.

All the other birds look pretty healthy.

We have had an awful lot of rain here the past few weeks. But I believe my coops pretty well ventilated, and out of the rain.

Normal food and water consumption.

Anyone else experienced this?
I would imagine so

How old was she?

I had one drop dead last summer. Same deal. She was acting completely normal. I saw her in the yard feeding during the day and then when i went to close the coop there she was.
Necropsy revealed heart failure.
She was 3yr +

How old was she?

July 7,19 I got her as a chick. I was reading about sudden chicken death syndrome. It seems to happen to young chickens once in a while. Or it could’ve been an egg blockage. Truthfully I’m new at this so I don’t know this stuff yet

I had one that was a production red just die out of no where at 2. No idea what happened to it either. Sorry you lost one!

It happens I’m reading. I’ll still get 4 eggs a day. That will work.
