I just came back to town last night and found an unexpected baby chick. Our flock is pure silkie. Some of the hens really want to be around the baby, but mostly Kylo Hen. Kylo Hen doesn't love that the other hens wants to be involved, but isn't putting up a big fight about it. I've been trying to get them to use separate hen boxes for months but they insist on all three using the same one. Is there any harm to letting multiple hens sit on the same eggs and baby chick, in the same hen box? Also is there anything safe I can feed the baby hen until my chick starter arrives in a couple hours? Can I let Kylo Hen raise the baby or should I put her in the heated chick box? We live in AZ so it's very warm out.
Thanks in advance
