I just hatched my June batch and had a surprise!
Roo is a Lavender Ameraucana.
I have 4 black hens (brown eggs) and a white hen (blue eggs).
The brown eggs hatched as black lavender splits just as expected.
Only one blue egg has hatched so far, but the chick is blonde/buff/cream color + a silver/lavender spot on its back. pink beak, clean pink legs. I can't tell if it's lavender? white? both? So now I'm trying to figure out more information about the white hen.
As I understand it, a Lav roo should always throw a black lav split with the exception of a barred hen, white-dominant hen, or a lav split/full lav hen.
this is the hen. no idea on breed, i assumed an EE of sorts. she is from the same flock as the rooster. so she may have lav recessive gene already. she has a few dark feathers on her back, on her wings, and around her neck. and mostly slate legs.
this is the rooster.
