I know its probably simple, I'm debating on getting a chicken or two, if I do, how long would one have to wait to eat an unfertilized egg, and do the chickens need any type of shots or anything?

. You can eat a egg as soon as it's laid. It is suggested to deworm your birds but they do not necessarily need shots

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad you joined. Most breeds take about 18-20 wks to start laying unless you buy some older birds. :thumbsup

Welcome!!!!

As stated earlier, the eggs (fertilized or not) can be eaten when they are laid and their laying timeframe varies depending on the breed.

I am of the belief that unless they are sick they do not need shots/vaccinations, worming, etc. Others here take a more commercial chicken raising approach which is to treat ahead to avoid complications.

Sweet, thanks guys, Ill probably try to stay as natural as possible when it comes to shots, and i'll keep in mind they are a very social bird :)
