Unfriendly EE chick, sign of a Roo?

I got 2 Ee and 2 BO day old chicks 4 weeks ago. Three of them appear to be very interested in being held and are friendly, but 1 of the EE is just not at all! It is solid light yellow, with thick greenish legs, my pictures don't seem to show it very well, as it hides from me as soon as it sees me. When I put my hand in, it pecks at me and if I do ever get a hold of it, I think it thinks it's dying!

Any experience with Roo's behaving differently/unfriendly? I chose these breeds for their docile personalities.......

No, it may just be an unfriendly pullet. . . Behavior like that doesn't indicate gender. Although the color may - Is it solid yellow/white or does it have any black or brown on it?

Otherwise, my current EE hen was the most skittish, unfriendly, flighty little'un I've ever had. . . And she's pretty fine now that she's laying.

Solid yellow, no brown at all. I will try to get a picture tomorrow in the daylight....

Ah, then it should mature to a white or a blue-buff type. Probably a pullet.

I had a solid yellow EE chick, so light-colored she was almost white. Same-type of behavior as yours. Now she's very friendly, inquisitive, and the biggest mischief-maker of the bunch! Almost got rid of her as a chick, glad we didn't

So, solid yellow is usually a sign of a pullet for an EE? Cause I have one that was a soft yellow and is feathering in solid white, and another that was soft yellow, but had some faint black markings on it's head, and now it's feathering in white with black splash like markings on it's wings. I suspect that one is a roo because it's comb is coming in much faster. They are 11 days now so I am going to wait until they are 2 weeks old and then see if some of my suspicions are accurate or not. I need to know soon who I am keeping, and who I am selling. I have 8 and I only intended to keep a roo and 3 hens, The other 3, regardless of their sex, are being sold. Plus some Bantam Cochins. They hatched with them, so they are 11 days old too. I think I know who is roo and who is hen there too, but again, I will post pics to see if I am right or not. I wasn't aware that yellow EE's turn out to be hens. That is good to know once these guys grow up and start laying, and I incubate their eggs.
