My daughter's oeg hen seemed fine yesterday but this morning when I checked on them she was puffed up, not moving, kind of gasping (not like gasping for air, more a pain gasp I think), not interested in food or water. He's still fine. She's about 2yrs old and we recently acquired the pair, almost a month ago. They come from a healthy flock, but had been treated strictly as chickens, they had no idea that things other than lay ration is edible, we're working on that though. The pair have been isolated in a cage since we brought them home. They're warm & draft free, and the bedding is changed frequently. She wasn't laying, just finished a moult, but her wattles have started to grow & redden in the last week. Her comb is already a nice healthy red. Her crop is fine, there are no signs of problems in her mouth/throat, breathing isn't laboured, no external parasites, clean vent area. I thought she might be egg bound so I applied warm moist towels while I checked the rest of her. I don't feel an egg in there though. She did have a rather runny poop (on my lap or course) but it appeared fine other than loose. I put her back in her cage with some warm wet food and she's a bit happier now, moving around scratching & pecking, eating & drinking, occasionally chatting. But she's still puffed up and not quite herself. I'm at a bit of a loss what it could be, any ideas?
