So this morning I went to check on my eight, 8 week old chicks in their intermediate coop and I found a trail of blood on their new wooden ladder. The ladder is made up of a 1 ft wide, 4 ft long piece of plywood with 1"x1" boards for traction. I found the trail of blood in a PERFECTLY straight line, and the trail goes up the second half of the ladder. The trail consists of several pin prick sized droplets, about 2-4 droplets wide, and again is in a perfectly straight line. There's also a small pool of blood near one of the middle rungs on each side of the rung but there's no blood on the actual rung. It looks to be about a quarter sized pool on each side of the rung.
I checked all the girls for bloody feathers, feet, beaks, backs, spots on the roost, or other areas with blood. I couldn't find anything on anyone! Should I be worried??? What on earth would cause this kind of injury? I was thinking about it later and could a plucked leg feather on my Brahma cause it? Just a little worried...I don't like seeing blood without knowing where the injury is
