Just curious… this chicken is Twig. She hatched in a 2nd grade classroom incubator project with a variety of chicks. I don’t know where the eggs came from or what breeds were expected, but Twig is very pretty. The cute fluff on her head covers a small black crest. Her black feathers have a green sheen in the sunlight. Her black feet have a bit of feathers too. Any guesses on her breed(s)?

All healthy, black chickens have a sheen to their feathers, it's a good thing. How many toes? I'm guessing a satin silkie, very cute.

Giggle banty sized I have 4. These are closest to pet as I have ever gotten with a bird. I have 25 full size birds in another coop.

I'd agree it's at least half silkie. I've got one that looks identical just in white!

She has the normal number of toes. I just googled silkies, so cute! Twig could be part silkie giving her the head fluff
