I shared last month on here how I brought home a very distraught, co-dependent little chicken that was chirping in distress and so I had to bring him home. All his bin mates were purchased and he was left behind. He was a scruffy little fellow about 4-6 weeks. He didnā€™t look like any of the labels they had marked on their bins. All I know for sure is he is a little Roo and growing some pretty feathers. Heā€™s stout and stocky and my Welsummer babies (who are only a couple weeks older than him) took him into their flock as their own. Itā€™s the cutest thing. He follows one around like its his mama? Hereā€™s some more recent pics of the little fella. We call him Marty. Anyone recognize this breed?

He's certainly beautiful. I'm definitely no expert on breeds but I work in Ybor City, Florida and he reminds me of the chickens there which are descendants from chickens brought over by the Spanish. They are more like game foul and a lot less like domestic chickens. He looks very sturdy like them and his coloring is similar.

he does look like a dark cornish to me. is he a bantam? because he looks to be at least 8 to ten weeks because of his developing saddles. and is quite a bit smaller than the rest of the flock
I think he may be a bantam as well and somehow accidentally came with the shipment of assorted Wyandotteā€™s to our local feed store. Thatā€™s what he was labeled as. The lady first thought maybe he was a turkey lol. And I knew he wasnā€™t a Wyandotte. We shall see. Heā€™s very shy and sweet and like a said cannot leave the Welsummers side.

the one he is following is probably just his favorite. one of my older pullets ditched the rest of the flock to be with th 10 week old chicks and still does it to this day
