Good morning,

On Saturday morning, my duck had clear mucus on her beak and eyes. We gave her VetRx and an antibiotic. She was shaking, not eating, and not walking. She was also tilting her head slightly to the left and was not laying down.

The next day (Sunday), I thought she was improving—she was walking with the flock, and the mucus was gone. She still wasn’t eating her food, but she was foraging outside. She also laid down a couple of times.

Today (Monday), she won’t eat, and her neck tilt seems to have worsened, but there is still no mucus. She is also not laying down again.

Please help or let me know if there’s someone I can tag. I don’t know what’s going on or how to treat this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She seems to be displaying signs of torticolis (wry neck or crook neck in chickens.) It can be a sign of head or neck injury, a vitamin E or thiamine deficiency, or a sign of illness. Has there been any reports of avian influenza where you live? Do any other birds have any history of respiratory illness, such as MG? I would keep her separated, and start some human vitamins. Vitamin E 400 IU softgels, 1/2 tablet of super B complex, and a small bit of scrambled egg for selenium is a good treatment for a couple of weeks. If anything gets worse post here, but you also can find more duck advice on the duck forum here:

no signs of respiratory illness in duck and chicken flock.

You can post a video if you first upload to to a host site like YouTube or Vimeo and then post the link here.
There’s also a way to post them directly in the gallery, but that’s a little confusing to me
