We noticed yesterday that we had two new visitors mingling with our "flock". At first thought they were 2 more of what seems like the hundred or so pigeons that come and go around here, lowering the level of chicken feed in the feeders. A little closer inspection showed they must be some type of chicken, but not anything we have run across before. Both are brownish in color and smaller than our standard size chickens, though they did not have any problems moving right in to the mango tree our 8 free-range chickens sleep in at night.
I am pretty sure there are more chickens on this island than there are people, between the fact that most folks seem to have a few or more, and I won't even go into the wild ones that no one owns.
We don't recognize either of these as a type any of our neighbors have, though someone has acquired some Banties that we have seen, but not like these.
Any guesses?
PS: I added another photo to my other post trying to figure out what one of our own newest chicks may be.
