Isn’t it interesting how he got his moms beard (I guess that’s a dominant gene?) but it’s the reverse color? I wonder if there’s a separate gene to control beard color ( like the Colombian gene controls cape color). Interesting!

Hey I think I just learned why my rooster didn't get his mom's black beard! It's because of his Buff Orp father!Apparently Buff Orpington's have a gene that is a black restricter so when I bred his parents together His father Black restricting gene took away the black that would have been in his beard(if he had a different dad) and restricted it to the tips of the wings and tail instead.Genetics is so fun!
