We got our first egg yesterday and I am not sure if they are supposed to lay each day when they just start laying?

They may or may not .Sometimes it takes a little bit for there systems to get in a routine but i wouldn't be surprised if you find another egg very soon.

Yes,You can put some golf balls in there just to show them (Other Chickens are laying here).
