We have 3 "ready to lay" Wyandotte pullets, 2 are 7 months and one is 9 months. We have yet to see an egg from any of them. They are usually in their coop until about 10am and then go out to their yard for the day.

Last week I noticed the hens weren't sunning like they usually do ... they were down on their right sides with their left legs kicked out and all the feathers on their heads/necks were up. I thought it was unusual that all 3 were in the same position, on the same side. A few minutes later they got up, relocated, and stopped to rest in the same position.

I have been watching them do this for days. What does it mean? It's always resting on the right side with the left leg kicked out and they always put up their feathers.

Ah, the sun, ah the fresh air, ah the cool earth. They are sunbathing. Or getting ready to dustbathe. Lucky girls. They like where they live.

Maybe she looked something like this?

Totally incurable, well, except maybe if it rains.

Yes, they do this frequently! The first time I saw it I thought they were all sick. Then they got up and moved to a different spot so I realized they weren't passing out.

It's been about a week since I first noticed it.
