We had our hen lay an unusually large egg which was twice the size of her usual eggs & also weighed more than twice the weight!

The surprise came when we broke the egg thinking there'd be two yolks. but we didn;t expect this - odds of a double yolker are at 1/1000. The odds rise to 1 in 25 million for a triple yolker!

And look at the way it sits in the pan giving a million dollar smile :D

And this is our proud hen who laid the triple yolker :woot

Wow! Did she have to take a nap afterwards!?!:th That is amazing!

Haha! well our hens free range the whole day, so the rooster gave her no time for napping & stuff. He took her back out to the yard after proudly proclaiming the feat. Thanks!

Wow! I've had many, many double yolkers from my flocks, but never three. Now I know why! Those odds are crazy. Lovely hen btw!

Thanks! Well I read online it feels like having hit the jackpot in a lottery. It kinda is. My parents have had a few double yolkers back in the day and this is my first experience with raising them & my first big egg that had a triple yolker. I was pleasantly shocked that it has such odds! Beginners luck eh? ;)

I’ve seen some huge eggs and gotten lots and lots of double yolk or‘s but that’s pretty amazing! I’ve been wondering for a while if there is such thing as a triple yolk. Guess that answers my question. But you can’t help thinking when you look at it “poor chicken”. Ouch!
Hope you enjoyed! I think that’s a sign you have a happy chicken

With those odds you should go buy a Powerball ticket!

LOL I'm gonna buy one now!:wee

That's really cool. She's a pretty hen, what breed is she, please?

Yes, I would like to know her breed as well. She's a beauty!

Sorry for the late reply. It's a Srinidhi hen which is supposed to lay 140-150 eggs per year. So far, from march when she started laying, the last 5 months I've got 92 eggs.
