Our usually very curious energetic girl is acting very differently. She's much slower than normal but still moving around a little. Sitting a lot, her tail is pointed down. She has still been eating some but she didn't run up for treats like the normal. They are all about 6 months old and shes not yet laid her first egg.what could be going on and what could we do for her? We just noticed this strange behavior today.

Give her a overall physical examination to weed out possible causes.
We are really new at chickens, and she's just now started letting us pick her up this past couple weeks. I'm not really sure what to look for, but over all she seems okay. Like no cuts or discharge coming from her eyes or anything. Her come is still nice and red, and her feet and legs don't look injured.

A neighbor dog has started coming over and scaring them, they are in a secured run. I don't supposed she could be scared by the dog?

Does her vent look normal? Check her belly (between legs and vent) for any signs of swelling/bloating. Feel your other girls first so you have a better sense of what's normal.

Is her tail up now? She should be laying by now or soon. Are you feeding layer feed with some crushed oyster shell available separately? I would keep an eye on the dog. It might try to dig in or get into your secured coop. Do the neighbors just let it run loose?
