Hi everyone! I'm Tom from a small town in upstate NY. Got a new house with a little bit of land, built a few gardens and thought it would be nice to raise some chicks. Once raised i will be having them in a coop, with a smaller run, and also a portable larger run to keep them enclosed while I'm home and can keep a better eye. Not too many predictors where i am at. being a bit closer to the down town area. Ill still be keeping things well enclosed just in case!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to keeping myself, but have helped out on farms though my life
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 Bantam chicks. Got them through Cackle ordered 4 they sent 6! very happy with Cackle and how well it was packaged. USPS called me at about 7am said they are here, and told the boss i had to go home haha!! Hatched on Monday june 3rd. just moved them from a rubbermaid bin to an old dresser i was about to burn anyway! Works perfect!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Bantams
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Not sure yet! However, i wanted them to help with keeping gardens and lawn clean, use the poo as fertilizer, get some eggs, and some pets
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a car guy, my project car is an 06 350z vert. Traveling as well. Been to Sweden, Iceland, Qatar, Indonesia, and Philippines.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My mother stops over often since i granted her some land to plant some stuff on. She was born and raised on a farm. mostly pigs. My Father helps me with the larger projects like building ect. I have 2 Shelties, used to be in the aquatics hobby for a while. Currently work for Corning Inc. as an optics/specialty materials machinist.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Looked for some coop designs and brooder designs, and i seem to always get this page popping up seems like a really helpful community!
