**Update 3/2/11**Last sad update - Help help help quickly

azenhouse, so sorry for your loss. I have two pairs of welshes and they are great birds. They should be laying soon can I hatch some out for you or would you like some eggs? They are from a local breeder in Colorado and they are thriving. Let me know. I would even consider selling a pair. Good luck!!

This is what I am talking about when I say they are laying on their sides. They are still alive.

They are very weak, but act like they are trying to clean themselves. Should I try putting them in warm water?

This may sound odd but try holding them. Cuddle them up, maybe in a bit of a blanket or towel & try gently blowing on them just a bit. I had a chick suffering fm hypothermia once that I popped under a heat lamp. It was taking forever for it to perk up but my DH picked it up in both hands, all snuggled up and gently blew on it on and off for 10-15 minutes or so and it finally perked up enough we felt we could put it back under the lamp.

I'd keep them out of the water until they can sit up right. They may drown. Hold them....

I'm soooo sorry about Drake! For the girls, you should take their leg bands off (If you haven't yet), and make sure they have a heat lamp to keep them warm. If they are not drinking, you can mash up some peas, and put it in their water....... That should make them more happy. When they are laying on their sides, it is only okay if they are sleeping or if they are falling asleep. I agree with cuddling, it will make them more happy!

Please post updates!

I am so sorry about you drake. I mixed warm water with food to make an mush for my babies. I also gave them sugar water for the first day. I would not put them into water to swim because they get very tired in the water. Keep them warm and dry, perhaps even cuddle them with your body heat.

And we all second guess ourselves, try not to you are trying your best!

Do not put them into water, because that will drain their body temperature even more. Even with warm water, because it cools them when it dries off. Just dry heat and hope for the best. Make sure your brooder temp is right.

Well, the girls are still with me. Boy, as it been a long day. I have adjusted there heat and they are up and chirping. Never really thought about them being too hot

. They were just so cold when they got here. The weakest one is having a hard time getting a good grip on the pee pads that I am using. Think I should put some straw or something in with them?

Still feel bad about the drake. My 15yr old son tells me that I did everything I could to save him. I just knew he wasn't going to make it when I opened up the box at the post office. He was struggling then, and he just wouldn't drink any water when I got him home.

I can hear the girls chirping. It sounds like crickets.

Going to go check on them.

Maybe change the pee pads out for towels until they are a little stronger.
It is not your fault about the drake-not at all.
Hope your girls all do OK!
