UPDATE........Canaan, NY Berkshire Farm Center, Sept 20th, tail gate

what is the color of your roo? is that a splash? with an overlay of blue? Is this the correct coloring. I don't know to much about coloring. Rooster and hens seem to have different colors that are exceptable. it gets confusing sometimes.

baby chick pic...adorable!!!

melinda

are you bringing the polish? did you get rid of them?

I'd like to say it was really great putting faces with names...and it was great meeting everyone...

Peeps, chickies are doing very good...i'll take pics for tomorrow, busy day today.

I learned a great deal too. That the tailgate sale in the fall is a great place to get rid of bigger birds. i saw a lot of pairs or trios going, but not singles or babies chicks.
And in the spring the baby chicks go or a little bigger ones. and if you bought more the price went down.....

i won an egg scale from the aution, pretty heavy too.Really wanted the water heater, so i guess I'm buying one....

the lady next to us, bought a lama... my son wanted to buy a pair of goats...you know you can't have just one...lol

Hi all. That was a very enjoyble time, got to meet several BYC members, including PeepsInc, who was incredibly nice. He had some of coolest birds I've ever seen! I ended up leaving with 5 silkie babies and 2 bunnies.

I do want to caution everybody to keep their new acquisitions seperate from your flocks-somebody there was selling sick birds. He told me he had sold quite a few already before I got to his selection. Runny eyes, lost feathers, mucus in the beak area, and the bird was moving it's head in the strangest way. I was so glad I had my hand disinfectant with me.

I bought a pair of Belgium Antwerps (?) - OMG she laid an egg (technically, my first) this morning and he was crowing up a storm telling the world!! I fell in love with them and she would only sell as a pair, glad I got them. They are really so pretty and semi-friendly
Yes, some of those hens looked a little odd and I really have no clue about them so I didn't buy any.

My son & I had a great day. Meeting everyone was terrific. I even got to see some faces I haven't seen since Luthers Livestock Auction closed 10 years ago. I wanted to thank Woody for all his work coordinating that event(Great job Woody!). Also for the pair of button quail he gave my son. He loves them,& got a tiny egg before we even got home. I bought a nice pair of white BQ Silkies that I just adore.(not to mention all the roo's I came home with) I only came home with 2 out of 12 of the day old chicks that I brought to sell. It was a good turn out considering there were 3 other events in the area that day, such as tractor pulls in my town & benefit dinners in copake........Thanks every one for such a great day!

PS. can some one post where next weekends event is taking place. I think it was at schaghticoke?

I think this weekend is Cobleskill, there's a big bird show with a sale outside, that's down Rt88.
I thought someone said Saugerties, the next weekend, but I'm not sure, it's supposed to be on Rt 43.

MLW

Hi Everyone, I hope that you all had a geat time at our Fall Sale. It was so awesome to get to meet all of you and put faces and names together.I cant thank you enough for your support. The boys that worked for us during the sale, they were the ones that brought the wagon of water around for your birds, Had an unbelievably good time. They were in awe of the variety of birds and animals that were for sale! The guys from Eggcartons.com.....I bow to your chicken expertise, you both made everyone feel welcome and valued. The raffle items you provided for everyone were the best.To Melinda, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. You are one of those people that always do for others, and never ask for anything in return, truly special. LD,and Bob B, you also fall in to that category.I know you both have that "Chicken Addiction"!!!!! I had a chance to see some of you at Cobleskill, and hope to see more of you at the sale this Sunday in schaticoght fair grounds. I have recieved mostly positive feedback, and welcome it.We tried to provide a safe, clean, and friendly place for all. Most of the vendors that I spoke to were able to move a lot of birds. A few didnt do that well, but I think we all need to remember that at a Fall Sale, you wont get the best dollar amount for your birds, that you get in the Spring. This means you must price accordingly. If you werent able to attend the Fall Sale, you can Email me and I will make sure that we give you a heads up close to that time. Also if you would like to see something done differently or have any suggestions email me at [email protected]. Once again, Thankyou. Woody
