"I went out to check the chickens and one of my 3 mo old EE's is walking around 'bunched up' like when they're cold, and when I checked her, her crop is small but mushy feeling. Can't feel the crop on the other chickens at all. They are no longer on medicated food, and get dark greens, tomatos, and a hard boiled egg once in awhile (got some yesterday) they have chick grit and dirt floor, but have access to straw. what could it be? as I said the crop is palpable but very smalll and mushy. she's pecking but not really eating. No coughing, runny nose and eyes are clear. All other chickens acting normal.
Poor baby. What do I do? Please help!?"

**UPDATE**

It's six hours later...I have been going out every hour, massaging Carissa's (my granddaughter named her after a friend "that looks just like her") crop and she continued to gag and open her mouth when I did it once in awhile and was drinking a LOT of water and eating a LOT of "chick grit". She is now cured! Don't know what was wrong-maybe something blocking the outlet? Her crop is empty, the mushy feeling is gone and she just started eating her food like she's starved. Yay! She was really sick this morning.

I will keep a close eye on her for the next few days to make sure she doesn''t have a recurrence or that she doesn't get sick again in the event that whatever was blockiing her might have been something more dangerous that vegetation. However, their 12 x 16 pen is free of any debris I know of other than some straw, branches (perches), and twigs etc.

Another thought, I gave them some Collards yesterday (the end of the leaves) but since collards are soooo fibrous I wonder if that caused the problem? Dunno... will hold off on those I guess.
