The thread formally known as "Are your broodies just as abnormal as mine"
The reason for the change of title.
Okay so maybe she's not an idiot but definately broody challenged!!!
This is second times she gone broody the first time she left the nest at 15 days, left the eggs stone cold, they weren't viable. Well since she was a first time broody I gave her a second chance.
Well guess what she did??
At first she started out with 15 eggs, 8 weren't fertile, candled at 10 days or so??. So she was down to 6. Well a few days later I found 3 broken. The other three were fine.
Tonight I go out to to candle again and she's not even on the nest!
The eggs again are stone cold!!! I candle them and no movement, they look about 15 days old or so and then I find my Australorp sitting in a corner on fresh eggs so I took all the eggs away from her.
She obviously has good intentions but has chicken ADD!!
I don't think the 2 eggs are viable, they are far enough along that I should see movement, I held them over light for a few minutes each and nothing.
My Phoenix on the other hand is now sitting on 13 eggs, 10 of which I saw movement. So it's not a total loss, but GRRRRR. If my Aussie didn't lay such nice eggs I could just strangle her!!!
