Another BYC member told me about your site. I know Toni-Marie Astin had used Cochin Bantams to her Ohiki over 10 years ago. I know someone else told me but is undocumented that he used Old English Game Bantams to Ohiki five years ago.
No one on the site has mentioned this.
What I have noticed is the same sniping I have gotten from one woman planting digs among her chatter because I created my own Calico Cochin Bantams and I created my own Phoenix Bantams. I have had one person snipe that way. And one person annoy persistantly. Only for you the gutter sniping has come at you from all angles. They are known as trolls. Please do not feed them. I have learned not to respond.
I admire your work. Your notes are yours.
With Cochin Bantams they are laying fertile eggs before they are 6 months. So they are excellent to use for a breeding project. Soft, cuddly, beautiful, lovable, sweethearts. They come in many color variations. What is not to love? What your doing will bring joy to others.
I will tell you. They have only one flaw. Feathers on their feet and legs. Boots and pants. Summers are cool, damp and usually rainy up here. Winters are wet, cold and snowy. Their legs and feet get wet and cold and the feathers also slow then down when they are trying to get away from predetors such as bear, coyotes, mink....for me they do not work as well say a Large Fowl Orpington.
Your project is so charming to me. These are not farmyard chicks.
These are front porch or back porch pets.
I think you have a good idea. I have known of others whom have needed to use Cochin Bantams in their projects and they did not regret it.
I say to you to ignore the mean snarky comments, coming from miserable people sharing their misery. I am certain you have loved each and everyone that was born unto you and they you.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with Cochin Bantams to creat your Baby Doll Cochin. Wonderful idea and hoping you connect with Ohiki peope if you have not already.
