I finally got my eggs that were 5 days in our PO system. I have them going...temp is holding...humidity is 45%

Please keep your fingers crossed for some beautiful Silkies. We have tried so hard to get just a few.

I will keep you up to date weekly as I candle them.

Who else put in eggs today???

Sure hope you have a better hatch than you expect after that. I am too upset with the P.O. to even comment on it tonight. AND, I have to pack up two sets of eggs to ship tomorrow, too.

I am new to Silkies and I wanted Silkies from some of the best breeders....I have gone through 3 dozen with only 2 live chicks. Most of them(80-90%) were infertile. The last batch had 3 chicks that never hatched. I am more than likely responsable for that. I am on my 4th dozen. I am in Missouri and they all came from the north east cost. That is a long ride. This is my last time hatching Silkies from shipments so far away.

Speckled hen, do you ever use live chick boxes for your Eggs? I've heard that they get better treatment in transport and better Survival.

oh rite kl np, just with you sayin u have tried so hard just to get a few i thought u meant they are hard to get a hold of. Didnt know bout your past history with them, sorry to hear it. Wish you the nest of luck with your silkies. Im on day 20 tomorrow so hopefully it will be good news for both of us!!

Nope, haven't tried that. I'm afraid if I sent eggs in a box marked LIVE CHICKS, some yahoo at the P.O. would open the box to see if they were all dead because they weren't cheeping.
The treatment of the package isnt the problem. Losing the package is. I sent one Monday and it should have been to its destination on Wednesday. P.O. says it has no idea where the heck it is. Cost $16 to mail it. They just keep taking money for a service they never intend to provide. I think they call that fraud, don't they?

speckledhen-If they are garenteed, can't you get your money back? I would! I had my first live chickens lost in the mail for ever 3 days. I almost lost one of them. Took a week of intense care to get her back to health.

I think I have checked the incubator 100 times tonight and they are only on day 0....I'm gonna be a wreck.
