several years ago my hubby ran over my chihuahua with our extended cab truck...She weighed less than two pounds... it eneded up breaking both hips and a femur... they had to keep her a week after surgery... but in that time I had to scrape up and borrow $800 for her surgery... she was so small she had to go an hour away to a specialist to fix her leg... before that i took her to several vets and noone would touch her... they all recommended putting her down except the specialist... after that she still walked funny and when she urinated she couldn't sqwat so she stood on her front legs and raised her back legs up so she wouldn't get urine on herself... she was my baby ... I lost her last jan. 4 days after her 10th birthday...

I am so glad you didn't give up on your horse... you are doing a great job... keep up the good work... I am sorry your vet treated you like that ... there was no sense for the vet to reat you that way

So sorry not to post sooner everyone....been pretty hectic here ! Trying to get wood in for the winter , take care of Booger , get hay in...neverending !

Booger seems to be a little better.....he's trying to put a little weight on the leg , still alot more swelling than I'd like to see , and not sure how the wound looks . I've been leaving the bandage off for most of the day , everyday , and re-bandaging at night with a proud flesh remover my vet prescribed called Animax . I'll let you guys be the judge on whether it's working or not.....been using it for a week now . He seems to be perky ( although not quite as spunky as he usually is ) temp is normal.....I need to research some of the ideas on here about the anti-inflammatories....maybe that will put my mind at ease !

Here are some pics....thanks to everyone for cheering me on , I don't know what I would have done without you all !!!

Looking much better! It will still be a long road ahead, but you have progress. I would seriously think of switching to Granulex and stop the wrapping. It will save you money in the long run with wrapping material and be more agressive with that proud flesh.

Overall the edges are what I see looking still very good. It is a blessing for him that he is still ouchy and not wanting to run. Could do more damage if he did at this point.

Wow... I do not own a horse but my daughter wants one. I will have to show her this thread. I know there is something that makes us do what we have to. That cut is gross and makes me want to puke.(looks better now than org. post) You are doing an awesome thing for your baby. I pray you both make it through this and your baby back to total health. You are really doing a good thing.

WOW! That looks fantastic!!! I would put Wonder dust on the part that looks yellow and anything that bulges past level. That looks AMAZINGLY good. You win the award for the best cared for wound I have EVER seen, and girl, lemmee tell you! I have seen a LOT of horrible wounds in the past forty five years of horses.
