Your horse looks great! Looks like all your hard work is paying off. I commend you for the time and energy you've given this beautiful animal!

I'm curious about the other horse........your house mate's. Is that horse healing better now? Seems as though they weren't putting the effort into that horse as you are with your own.

I don't know what to do....Boogers wound looks about the same , he's hardly using the leg at all . I know giving him Bute is not the best thing , but I've been doing it off and on for 1 1/2 weeks . His fetlock is very swollen as is his hock still . He was using the leg a little 5 days ago , now he's keeping most if not all of the weight off of it . I've discovered a small pocket at the base of the wound....not to concerened about it but am getting some pus out of it everyday . I'm losing hope....It's been a month... I would have thought he'd be using or trying to use his leg more . Am I wrong ? Am I just being paranoid ? I feel as if the better the wound is looking , the more he's not using his leg . I'm calling the vet tomorrow to find out about anti-inflammatory meds AGAIN . Called 6 days ago...the vet was supposed to call back...never did . I just feel like banging my head against the wall . I know there have been great recomendations here.....they have worked...I think now it's about the swelling and whether his leg will ever work again . Thanks for letting me vent and any more info is welcomed !

I think that it is looking much better. Its a big nasty wound in a bad place and it's going to take a while to heal. You just have to keep doing what you are doing, keeping it clean, flushed and keeping bugs and dirt out of it.

I think on the first thread I showed you pics of Ginger, the horse with the meat hanging out of her leg? It took months, but you saw the little scar afterward and her galloping with my brother.

Hers got worse before it got better, the stitches fell out, and it was all ooozy and pussy, but we gave her penicillin and kept up the routine!

The tabs would be a major improvement. I would call the vet and raise h#$l telling him it is am emergency and he must call you back. Still a long row to hoe with the injury but the progress youh have made is outstanding. keep up the hard work.

I read in the begining he was hard to handle, how is he reacting now that he is mending?
All the intense work you have put into this beautiful animal I am thinking you have a best friend for life.

Contacted the vet (different one , same vet office ) he came out today and told me that I need to take Booger in for x-rays . He seems to think the bone is damaged and dying . I'll be leaving here in about an hour....I'll post what happens after I get back . Hopefully I can get him loaded in the trailer .
